    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out adequate recording operation, etc. by suppressing light quantity loss with an optical pickup device of a plural light source type having a common optical system and a common light receiving element. SOLUTION: The optical system of the optical pickup device has a half mirror (first beam splitter) 13 and a prism 14 (second beam splitter) 14 for introducing a first laser beam L1 for CDs and a second laser beam L2 for DVDs to an optical recording medium side and the common light receiving element 19. The half mirror 13 is nearly 20% in the transmittance of the first laser beam L1 which is P polarized light and the prism 14 is nearly 75% in the transmittance of the second laser beam L2 in which the P polarized light and S polarized light coexist. The first laser beams for CDs may be introduced to the optical recording medium without being accompanied by the light quantity loss and simultaneously the return light Lr of the sufficient light quantity may be returned to the light receiving element 19 for the purpose of forming a servo signal and therefore the sure CD recording operation may be realized by using the first laser beam.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a power feeding flexible printed board from being obstructive to movement of a lens holder and also the occurrence of a flaw or a short circuit of a conductive foil of the board due to contact with the lens holder by making the board 2-layered structive and disposing this board between the lens holder and a frame to be slackened in a circular-arcuate shape. SOLUTION: The flexible printed board 8 is provided round from the side of the frame 2 to the side of the lens holder 3, and this structure is of two layers composed of an insulating base layer 801 consisting of polyimide, etc., and a wiring pattern of a copper foil 803, and is very flexible. This board 8 is disposed in an approximately circular-arcuate shape between the lens holder 3 and the frame 2 to position its wiring pattern of the copper foil 803 under the exposing state on the inner side. By this method, rotary motion of the lens holder 3 is not obstructed by the flexible board 8. In addition, there is no fear of occurrence of a short circuit and disconnection, etc., due to contact of the copper foil 803 under the exposed state with other parts, and then flexure resistance is enhanced.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new structure for removing the play between an objective lens and a sliding shaft in a shaft sliding type objective lens driving device of an optical pickup. SOLUTION: An objective lens driving device 20 of an optical pickup is provided with a pair of magnetic pieces 10A, 10B for returning a lens holder 1 to a magnetically neutral position. The magnetic pieces 10A, 10B are mounted on the position shifted by the same angle in the reverse direction to the magnetically neutral position (straight line L1) on the outer periphery of the lens holder 1. Depressing force F pressing the holder in the lateral direction to a sliding shaft 7 is exerted on the lens holder 1 by magnetic force generated between the magnetic pieces 10A, 10B and the corresponding tracking magnet part. The play between the lens holder 1 and the sliding shaft 7 is removed by the depressing force. By the simple constitution for changing the mounting position of a pair of magnetic pieces 10A, 10B for returning the lens holder 1 to the magneti-cally neutral position, the play between the lens holder 1 and the sliding shaft 7 is removed.

    • PURPOSE: To eliminate the effect of a desensitized area of a divided photodetector, to detect a signal highly sensitively and to simplify a device by providing a hologram element provided with a hologram pattern of which diffraction condition is different from each other on an optical path between a light source and a recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A tracking error signal TE and a focusing error signal FE are obtained by luminous fluxes (± first-order light beams) diffracted by the hologram element having a diffraction grating, and on the other hand, a zero- order light component not diffracted is used only for obtaining a high frequency signal RF. Thus, since the necessity using the divided detector is eliminated for detecting the high frequency signal RF, and the effect of the desensitized area of the photodetector is eliminated, the signal with an excellent jitters characteristic is detected without changing the amplitude of the high frequency signal RF even when a spot size is increased/decreased, and a spot position is moved. Further, by integrating the photodetectors, and by using only irreducible minimum photodetectors 21-23, signal processing is simplified.
