    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for adjusting the surface deflection of a head by working the surface of a support for attaching a head while the support is held rotatably in an assembled state then attaching the head thereto. CONSTITUTION:Rotary parts except an upper drum 30 and a head 28, i.e., a head base 16 and a rotor 20 of a rotary transformer 19 are bound to a revolving fulcrum shaft 18. The surface 27 of the head base 16 for attaching the head is finished by working while the rotating parts are held supported rotatably by means of bearings 25, 26 held to a housing 24 of a lower drum 22 coupled with a stator 23 of the transformer 19. The surface deflection accuracy of the surface 27 with respect to the shaft 18 is thus compensated and the need for the operation to adjust the surface deflection of the head 28 is eliminated by attaching the head 28 in the above-mentioned state, by which the labor for the assembling operation is lessened.

    • PURPOSE:To maintain the progression of the wear of magnetic metallic films and glass disposed on both sides thereof at the same degree and to prevent the generation of level differences by uneven wear by cutting a head core near a front gap and packing glass into the formed spaces. CONSTITUTION:Diagonal grooves 22 are cut and formed on both main surfaces of a ferrite substrate 21 and after the high melting glass 23 is packed into the grooves, the magnetic metallic films 24 are formed. The film thickness thereof corresponds to the track width in the front gap g of the magnetic head. Plural pieces of such substrates 21 are superposed on each other and the low melting glass 25 is placed thereon and is meted to integrate the substrates. The magnetic block is then cut according to the arrangement of the magnetic films 24, is subjected to surface polishing and is cut out to plural core blocks 30. Winding grooves 26 are formed at the butt end faces exposed with the magnetic films 24 and the blocks are joined and integrated via gap spacers. Finally, the tape-sliding surfaces are subjected to cylindrical polishing and the circumference is ground. The block is then sliced to magnetic head chips. Further, the contact width of the sliding surface is worked stepwise so as to be narrowed and the magnetic head is completed.
