    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for homogenizing a glass melt, wherein high homogeneity can be achieved while applying low stress on the components of the device, enabling easily and precisely adjusting the device, and creating minimized abrasion or a low bubble shear rate.
      SOLUTION: At least one stirring device (10, 11) is disposed in a melt receptacle (2), which comprises a stirrer shaft (10) and a plurality of stirrer blades (11), and wherein a gap (16) is formed between the inner wall region of the melt receptacle (2) and the stirrer blades (11). The method for homogenizing a glass melt in the melt receptacle (2) comprises: causing an axial feed action in order to feed the melt to the inside of the internal stirring region along the stirrer shaft (10) using each of the stirring devices present in the internal stirring region (12) between the stirrer shaft (10) and the stirrer blades (11); and sealing the gap (16) so that the melt does not directly pass through it using a melt flow brought about by the axial feed action.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass float process which is easy to carry out and which can prevent the undesirable devitrifications in the edge regions even in the floating of glasses prone to crystallization.
      SOLUTION: The process for producing a flat glass prone to crystallization includes a step of pouring a liquid glass in a glass flow form on a metal in an inlet zone on which the liquid glass is formed into a glass ribbon having desired width and thickness to thereby bring the glass flow in the inlet zone into contact with a wetback tile and/or restrictor tile. By forming a liquid film comprising a float bath metal between the wetback and/or restrictor tiles in the inlet zone and the glass flow, the liquid film prevents a direct contact of the liquid glass with the wetback and/or restrictor tiles.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for homogenizing glass melt achieving both of cost reduction and homogenization of a high degree.
      SOLUTION: At least a stirring shaft 10 rotatable in the rotating direction U and a plurality of stirring vanes 11, 11', 11'' are disposed on a stirring device. The stirring vanes are arranged at intervals along the stirring shaft so as to substantially produce an effect of a conveyer in the shaft direction on the glass melt toward an outflow port. In order to improve the homogenization and, at the same time, save a noble metal, the stirring vanes 11, 11', 11'' are made to be paddle-shaped and are provided with mounting elements 11E. At least the one mounting element 11E has an edge which is extended from the stirring shaft 10 in a radial direction along a vane area and has a length less than the length L of the vane area being extended in the radial direction by a specified distance X. According to such a configuration, the generation of bubbles can be extremely reduced.
