    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new improved method of making a coating composition for forming a single layered photosensitive layer by which a making process is shortened and productivity can be improved, and to provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The method of making the coating composition for forming the single layered photosensitive layer is a method of making a coating composition for forming a single layered photosensitive layer including a pigment powder, which acts as a charge generating material, dispersed in a solution of a binder resin. The method includes a step of adding photosensitive layer forming components including the pigment powder, a hole transporting material, an electron transporting material and the binder resin to a solvent to wet the pigment powder, and a step of homogenizing the photosensitive layer forming components while pulverizing the pigment powder.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor capable of preventing deterioration of images due to repeated use, and to provide an apparatus for forming an electrophotographic image. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor includes an underlayer, charge-generating layer and charge transport layer that are formed sequentially on a conductive substrate. The underlayer includes a metal oxide, binder resin and heat stabilizer. The charge-generating layer includes the binder resin and phthalocyanine charge-generating materials. The charge transport layer includes a charge transport material, binder resin and heat stabilizer. Then, the electrophotographic photoreceptor and apparatus for forming the electrophotographic image with the photoreceptor are provided. The photoreceptor contains a specified combination of heat stabilizers in the underlayer and the charge transport layer. By using a combination of butadiene amine compound and hydrazone system compound or benzidine compound as the CTM of the charge transport layer, light resistance and thermal fatigue resistances are enhanced, and deterioration of images due to the repeated use can be restrained.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor having high photosensitivity and excellent stability over repeated charging, and an electrophotographic image forming apparatus employing the same.
      SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor includes, as a charge generating material, a titanyl phthalocyanine crystal having a major absorption peak at a wavelength of 780±10 nm and a minor absorption peak having an intensity of 3/4 or less of the major absorption peak at 690±10 nm in the visible-infrared absorption spectrum and, as a charge transporting material, a distyryl compound having a predetermined structure. The electrophotographic image forming apparatus employing the same is also provided. The electrophotographic photoreceptor and the electrophotographic image forming apparatus have excellent photosensitivity, charging properties and repetition stability and ensure excellent practicality by using an optimum combination of a new crystal type of a highly photosensitive titanyl phthalocyanine as a charge generating material and a distyryl compound which is a charge transporting material that is compatible with the titanyl phthalocyanine.
