    • PURPOSE: To make it possible to easily form a spin valve by providing this spin valve with a pinning layer having plural blocks isolated from each other in the longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION: This spin valve consists of four layers; a pinning layer 21, a first magnetic reluctance material layer 22, an intermediate layer 23, a second magnetic reluctance material layer 24. The pinning layer 21 has the plural blocks 21A across spacings 21B. These blocks 21A form a slender shape, by which shape anisotropy is generated in the longitudinal direction (X axis). The respective blocks 21A are, therefore, provided with magnetization axes in their longitudinal direction (X axis) by the shape anisotropy and are arranged along the minor axis direction (X axis) of the pinning layer 21. Then, the pinning layer 21 has the axis of easy magnetization along the minor axis direction. As the result, the pinning layer 21 is formable out of a ferromagnetic material by the simple method without subjecting the material to an anisotropic treatment.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely shield magnetically between a plurality of magnetic heads by providing the plurality of magnetic heads arranged in the traveling direction of a magnetic recording medium and providing at least a coil between a reproducing magnetic head and a recording magnetic head. SOLUTION: A substrate 8A, a recording magnetic head 5, a coil 7, a reproducing magnetic head 6 and a substrate 8B are formed in parallel to the traveling direction arrow A of a magnetic tape. A prescribed current is supplied to a recording coil 14 in recording, and at this point, a part of an AC magnetic field generated from the recording coil 14 and a magnetic gap G is leaked out from the recording magnetic head 5. This leakage magnetic field is electromagnetically converted by the coil 7 to become a current flowing to the coil 7 and the vertical component of the leakage magnetic field is canceled by the coil 7 not to reach the reproducing magnetic head 6. Thus, the magneto-resistive effect element 16 of the reproducing magnetic head 6 can detect the signal magnetic field of the magnetic tape without being interfered with the leakage magnetic field.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a pseudo gap by making a core thickness on a recording medium sliding surface approximately equal to a track width and extending a magnetic thin metallic film up to the side surface part of a head core part at least near a magnetic gap. CONSTITUTION:For head core parts 9 and 10, track width regulating grooves 12a and 12b are formed so that a core thickness on a recording medium sliding surface 11 can be the same width as a track width W and a magnetic thin metallic film 14 is extended up to side surface parts 9a and 9b of track width regulating grooves 12a and 12b of the core part 9 near a magnetic gap 8. Consequently, the interface edge part of the head core part 9 and the film 14 is not directly brought into contact with a glass 16. Consequently, both edge parts K1 and K2 of an interface K of a magnetic gap part 14a and the head core part 9 which are filmed in parallel to the magnetic gap 8 are covered with side surface films 14b and 14c of the magnetic metallic film and not brought into contact with the glass 16. Thus, the component of the glass 16 is not permeated to the interface K, a response layer is not formed and the pseudo gap generation is prevented.
