    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, in order to prevent breakdown of machinery due to a low-quality product, a means capable of easily and rapidly identifying whether lubricating oil is an authentic product having a designated performance at a site where a machine is actually used.SOLUTION: The method includes: a first reaction step of heating 15 a lubricant composition containing volatile amine 13 as a marker and disposing a medium including an amine coloring reagent used in amine-based coloring reaction on vapor phase on the liquid surface of the lubricant composition; a second reaction step of disposing, after a heating step, a medium including a pH-dependent coloring reagent 11 used in pH-dependent coloring reaction on vapor phase on the liquid surface of the lubricant composition; and a determination step of comparing a reference coloring pattern with coloring patterns that are results in the first reaction step and the second reaction step to determine whether the lubricant composition that is the inspection object is a specific lubricant composition.
