    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting apparatus and a detecting method, capable of bringing each light receiving means to receive light having the optimal intensity, without disposing any circuit additionally for controlling switching of intensities of light emission, even when a plurality of light receiving means fluctuate in light-receiving sensitivity. SOLUTION: The detecting apparatus comprises: a memory section 11 for storing a duty ratio for each light receiving section; a reading section 12-2 for reading the duty ratio stored in the memory section 11, at every prescribed clock time; a voltage outputting section 12-1 for outputting a voltage of the duty ratio read by the reading section 12-2; a smoothing section 13 for smoothing the voltage output by the voltage outputting section 12-1; a current outputting section 14 for outputting current corresponding to the voltage smoothed by the smoothing section 13; and a plurality of light emitting sections 16-1 to 16-4 for emitting light beams by using the current output by the current outputting section 14.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the influence of radiation noises generated from a thermal head, a thermal head controlling part and wiring connecting them.
      SOLUTION: Data for performing on/off of respective thermal resistors R1-Rn are generated on every respective gradation from the first gradation to the N-th gradation by a thermal head driving data generating part 14 and are outputted as serial data. In a thermal head 40, these serial data are received, and are held at positions corresponding to respective thermal resistors R1-Rn by a shift register 41. Then, the respective thermal resistors R1-Rn are energized by the on/off data held by the shift register 41. This procedure is repeated to the N-th gradation to perform a gradation printing for one line. In addition, when the serial data are stored in the shift register 41, on respective gradations, data locking signals (CLOCK) with different frequencies are used.
