    • PURPOSE:To achieve five-axis control grinding and thereby to enlarge the grinding range by adding angular control of A and B axes around x and y axes to profile control and numerical control including three-axis control along x, y and x axes for preparation of die grinding data. CONSTITUTION:A stylus 52 of a tracer head 54 is moved on a die model M along x and y axes or a dummy grinding tool T is attached to a wheel spindle 4 of a five-axis control die grinding machine and is brought in contact with a measuring point determined by x and y coordinates on the die model M so as to prepare three dimensional data, which is stored in a floppy disc 72. Then, the dummy grinding tool T is moved according to the three dimensional data in continuous contact on the die model M. At this time, a turning angle of the wheel spindle 4 around A axis parallel to x axis and a turning angle of the wheel spindle 4 around B axis parallel to y axis are entered into an NC device 56 and added to the above three dimensional data so as to prepare die grinding data.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to automatically carry out a polishing process, by providing such an arrangement that a hydraulic cylinder presses a workpiece against a grind stone which is attached, through a universal joint, to a grind stone shaft slidably coupled to a shank shaft for attaching a spindle to a machine tool. CONSTITUTION:When a grind stone 3 which is attached, through a universal joint 2, to a grind stone shaft 6 coupled to a shank shaft 7 slidably in the axial direction, is elevated along, for example, a workpiece W, a piston 5a is pushed up by means of an arm 6 so that the pressure in the upper chamber C1 of a hydraulic cylinder 4 increases upto P1+DELTAP2 while the pressure in the lower chamber C2 decreases to P2-DELTAP2. However, a relief valve D1 controls the pressure from P1+DELTAP1 to P1 and a pressure reducing valve E2 controls the pressure from P2-DELTAP2 to P2, thereby the pressing force of the grind stone 3 is made constant. Meanswhile upon lowering of the grind stone 3 the pressing force is controlled to be made constant due to the functions of both pressure reducing valve E1 and relief valve D2 similar to that mentioned above. Thus, the polishing process may automatically carried out in stead of a manual operation.

    • PURPOSE:To automate smoothing operation in a die manufacturing process by providing a grinding tool and a grinding attachment for use in the die manufacturing with means for continuously keeping a grinding stone in surface contact with the work surface in the normal direction and rotating the same at a high speed. CONSTITUTION:A grinding stone 1 includes a ring-shaped base 6 and a plurality of stone chips 9 composed of borazon 10 and stone base material 11 and attached to the base 6 annularly at equal intervals through an elastic member A composed of a hard elastic material 7 and a soft elastic material 8. A stone holder 3 for holding the grinding stone 1 and a wheel spindle 4 are coupled to each other through a universal joint 5. The wheel spindle 4 has a spherical extreme end 4a which is rotatably fitted into a central spherical depression 3a of the stone holder 3. A locking pin 12 extends through the depression 3a so as to transmit rotational movement of the wheel spindle 4 to the stone holder 3. Furthermore, there is provided a constant-pressure urging device D in which a moving rotary shaft 22 is vertically movably supported by a frame 24 through a bearing 26 and the shaft 22 is urged downwardly by a spring 21.
