The platen is formed so that a first hole 11 is provided on the platen face of a part opposing the down stream side in the sub-scanning direction of the nozzle array, and when the starting end 7 of the recording medium is printed with no margin, the ink 12 abandoned as it is out of the starting end is introduced into the first hole.
