    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constitution capable of focusing both of two kinds of light onto the same photodetector when a spherical aberration occurring in the substrate thickness of an optical recording medium is absorbed by a spherical aberrations generated in two kinds of the light. SOLUTION: In this device 10, a first light of wavelength 640 nm and second light of wavelength 725 nm emitted from first and second light sources 11 and 12 are introduced by a light transmission system 25 to a common optical path 27. The return light 101 of the first light reflected by a digital video disk 17 and the return light 102 of the second light reflected by a compact disk 18 are introduced to the common photodetector 22. Since the first and second light sources 11 and 12 vary in the lengths of the optical paths up to a condensing system 25, the first and second return light 101 and 102 are made incident on a hologram element 20, thereby, the zero order light 101a of the return light 101 of the first light and the +1st order light 102b of the return light 102 of the second light are focused onto the photodetector 22.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a returning light from an optical recording medium from being shielded by an aperture switching element in an optical pickup device performing recording/reproducing in optical recording media having different recording modes by using the aperture switching element. SOLUTION: In an optical pickup device 10, when DVD reproducing is switched to CD reproducing, an aperture switching element 1 for switching the numerical aperture of an objective lens 6 is inserted between a light guiding system 31 and the objective lens 6. The aperture switching element 1 includes a transmission part 101 for transmitting the light components of a specified range including the center optical axis of a laser light and a shielding part 102 for shielding remaining light components, and the transmission part 101 is formed in a slit shape extended in a direction A equivalent to a track shifting direction. Thus, even when the objective lens 6 is track-shifted, all the returning lights from an optical recording medium 7 are guided to a photodetector 9 without being shielded by the aperture switching element 1.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical pickup comprising two types of dedicated light source for recording/reproducing different kinds of optical recording media in which the optical system is constituted compactly and inexpensively. SOLUTION: First and second laser lights L1, L2 from laser diodes 4, 5 for DVD and CD are introduced to a common optical path 6 and the returning light from an optical recording medium is introduced to a common photodetector 11 by an optical waveguide system 20. The optical waveguide system 20 comprises a half mirror 21 having a first partial reflecting face 21a for partially reflecting the laser light L1 and transmitting the laser light L2, and a prism 22 having a second partial reflecting face 22a for partially reflecting the laser liqht L2 and transmitting the laser light L1. The laser diodes 4, 5 are arranged at positions conjugate to a photodetector 10. Consequently, the majority of the optical system from the laser diodes 4, 5 to the optical recording medium and the optical system for introducing the returning light from the optical recording medium to a photodetector 11 can be shared resulting in an inexpensive compact optical pickup.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute an optical system of an optical pickup device provided with a polarization separating optical element and a 1/4 wavelength plate and constituted so as to separate reflection light from an optical recording medium from emitted light from a light source to detect it to a small size and compact. SOLUTION: In the optical system of the optical pickup device 10, a polarizing beam splitter 3 being the polarization separating optical element and the 1/4 wavelength plate 4 are arranged on an optical path of divergent light L1 outgoing from a laser diode 1 in this order. Since these optical elements 3, 4 are arranged using the optical path of the divergent light difficult to shorten by an optical limit, the optical system is miniaturized and made compact. As the l/4 wavelength plate 4, one of a two sheets stuck structure with low incident angle dependency is suitable. Instead of this, the 1/4 wavelength plate of a more inexpensive single plate structure may be adopted also by suppressing the divergent angle of the divergent light to nearly 4 degree or below.

SOLUTION: The optical pickup device 1 is provided with a first inclination angle- adjusting mechanism for inclining an objective lens 2 with a first axial line L1 that is extended in the tangential direction of an optical disk and at the same time passes through the center of a sub axis guide groove 501 as the center, and a second inclination angle-adjusting mechanism for inclining the objective lens 2 with a second axial line L2 that agrees with the center of a spindle being extended in the radius direction of the optical disk as a center. Then, each inclination angle-adjusting mechanism adjusts the inclination angle of the objective lens by adjusting the inclination of a spindle guide frame 4 and a sub-axis guide frame 5 being mounted by turning respective inclination angle-adjusting screws so that it can be inclined with the first and third axial lines L1 and L3 as a center for a main frame 3. Both the inclination angle- adjusting mechanisms are in the same structure and adjust inclination angle around both the axes by turning an inclination angle-adjusting screw.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain the objective lens driving device having good dynamic characteristics and static characteristics by making an inertial axis of a movable holder equipped with plural objective lenses, a coil fitting part and a yoke inserting hole align a spindle. CONSTITUTION: The movable holder 12 having lens holding parts 12c for mounting one pair of objective lenses 13 and 14 on the upper surface is fitted to the spindle 11 turnably and slidably by a main axis inserting hole 12b. The movable holder 12 is provided with the lens holding parts 12c on the upper surface, a tracking drive coil 15 and a focusing drive coil 16 on the circumferential wall surface and moreover, the yoke inserting hole 12a at a position symmetrical to the spindle inserting hole 12b in its inside. The objective lenses 13 and 14 are made of the same material, in the same shape and mass, and hence the movable holder 12 assembled with these parts is finally balanced. By this structure, the inertial axis of the movable holder 12 is aligned with spindle, thus obtaining good dynamic characteristics and static characteristics.
