    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical pickup comprising two types of dedicated light source for recording/reproducing different kinds of optical recording media in which the optical system is constituted compactly and inexpensively. SOLUTION: First and second laser lights L1, L2 from laser diodes 4, 5 for DVD and CD are introduced to a common optical path 6 and the returning light from an optical recording medium is introduced to a common photodetector 11 by an optical waveguide system 20. The optical waveguide system 20 comprises a half mirror 21 having a first partial reflecting face 21a for partially reflecting the laser light L1 and transmitting the laser light L2, and a prism 22 having a second partial reflecting face 22a for partially reflecting the laser liqht L2 and transmitting the laser light L1. The laser diodes 4, 5 are arranged at positions conjugate to a photodetector 10. Consequently, the majority of the optical system from the laser diodes 4, 5 to the optical recording medium and the optical system for introducing the returning light from the optical recording medium to a photodetector 11 can be shared resulting in an inexpensive compact optical pickup.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance both rigidity of a lens holder and sliding performance of a bearing hole by constituting the lens holder of a magnesium compact and constituting the inner circumferential surface of the bearing hole of a slidable material such as resins, etc. SOLUTION: A holder body 30 equipped with a lens fitting part 37 of the lens holder 3 is constituted of the magnesium compact to enhance the rigidity of the lens holder 3 as a whole without complicating the holder body 30 in shape. Therefore, a high-order oscillatory frequency of the lens holder 3 is shifted to a high band to enable the lens holder 3 to be driven at high speed. Moreover, by constituting a sliding surface between the lens holder 3 and a holder supporting shaft 34, of a bearing member 5 made of resins, a sliding characteristic between this holder supporting shaft 34 and the bearing hole 51 is kept in its high performance as it is. Then, the bearing member 5 has a cylindrical simple shape with high molding accuracy, and hence the accuracy of the bearing hole 51 can be higher compared with the case of integral compact of the whole lens holder 3, thus improving a pickup performance.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an objective-lens driving device which can be made thin without lowering the magnetic driving characteristic of a magnetic drive circuit used to drive an objective lens. SOLUTION: In an objective-lens driving device, a driving coil 8A for focusing and a driving coil 9A for tracking are attached circumferentially in an adjacent state with reference to the outer circumferential face 3b of a lens holder 3, a first arc-shaped magnet 11A and a second arc-shaped magnet 12A whose inner circumferential faces are set to be oppositely magnetized faces are attached to an outer yoke wall part 5b circumferentially in an adjacent state, the driving coil 8A for focusing is used as an air-core coil which is arranged in a state that an air core 83 turns to a focusing direction, the driving coil is made to face the first magnet, and the driving coil 9A, for tracking, as an air-core coil is faced in a state that it stretches over the first and second magnets 11A, 12A. Thereby, even when the lens holder 3 is made thin, and even when the length of the driving coil 8A for focusing is made short, its magnetic sensitivity can be maintained to be good, and the device 1 can be made easily thin.
