    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polymer, which is capable of producing a polymer, in which the amount of low molecular weight compounds such as a residual monomer and a catalyst is reduced, without using a large amount of an organic solvent.SOLUTION: The method for producing a polymer includes at least an extraction process for extracting low molecular weight compounds, comprising charging a polymer intermediate, obtained by subjecting a ring-opening polymerizable monomer to a ring-opening polymerization, into a reactor 413 to bring the polymer intermediate into contact with a compressible fluid having a density of 230 kg/mor more, that is supplied from a tank 407 at a temperature lower than the melting point of the polymer intermediate, at such a condition that the ratio of the polymer intermediate to the compressible fluid (mass of the polymer intermediate/mass of the compressible fluid) is 0.05 to 10, and melting them to dissolve the low molecular weight compounds contained in the polymer intermediate into the compressible fluid.
