    • PURPOSE:To form a copying machine having the higher reliability by prohibiting the acceptance of an automatic start mode when abnormality arises in the machine. CONSTITUTION:Detection of abnormality is executed right after throwing of an electric power source. The abnormality is displayed and the acceptance of the automatic start is prohibited when the abnormality arises. The state of accepting condition setting is attained when the operator pushes down an automatic start mode key 6 during the rise time when the abnormality is not detected. The condition setting is accepted here and the automatic start is released when the operator pushes down again the key 6. The state of the initializing the setting condition is thus attained.

A tension spring 30 having considerably large power is stretched between a point 31 on the bracket 24 and a point 32 on the arm 26. As a result, the stopper 27 is press-contacted to the edge 24a. Thus both the bracket 24 and the arm 26 rock in a body round a shaft 22.

    • PURPOSE: To positively bias a transfer sheet and prevent defoemation of the transfer sheet by detecting the thickness of the trnsfer sheet and pressing a transfer sheet pressing member by a force corresponding to the thickness of the transfer sheet and biasing the same.
      CONSTITUTION: A projection 1a is provided at the upper part of the inner surface of a side wall of a paper-feed cassette 1, and a transfer sheet detecting link 2 is pivotallty connected by means of a pin 3. The upper end 2a of the transfer sheet detecting link 2 is made contact with the upper surface of the transfer sheet 4 heaped within the paper-feed cassette 1. At the lower end 2b of the transfer sheet detecting link 2 there is pivotally connected the back surface of a pressing body 5 made of an elastic body such as a sponge or the like. The front surface 5a of the prssing member 5 is made contact with one side 4a of the transfer sheet 4. As a result, when the number of transfer sheets 4 is reduced, the pressing force becomes weak, and when the number of transfer sheets 4 is increased, the pressing force become strong.
