    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which can prevent the filming of a photoreceptor even when zinc stearate is used by dispersing the same into toners and can achieve the uniform electrostatic charge free of surface staining by poor electrostatic charge. SOLUTION: In the initial period of development when the photoreceptor filming is liable to occur, the applied current of the electrostatic charge is suppressed to a lower level and when the photoreceptor filming is least likely to occur and the poor electrostatic charge is liable to occur as time passes by, the applied current of the electrostatic charge is increased to prevent the surface staining by the poor electrostatic charge. Constant current control of 1.0 mA in AC component is carried out at a constant voltage of -600 V from the initial period of using a cartridge up to passing of 4,000 sheets.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device in which the cleanability of its image carrier is kept satisfactory and good images free from surface stain and transfer failure can be obtained from the early stage of output when the image carrier is new. SOLUTION: The image forming device has not only an image forming mode but also a zinc stearate application mode in which zinc stearate added to a single-component developer is transferred to the surface of a photoreceptor 1 serving as an image carrier by an electric field formed between the photoreceptor 1 and a developing roll 41 which carries the single-component developer on the surface and conveys it to a developing region. When the photoreceptor 1 is new, zinc stearate can be automatically applied to the surface of the photoreceptor 1 by actuating the zinc stearate applying mode to reduce the frictional force on the surface of the photoreceptor 1. Consequently, the newly installed photoreceptor is kept easily cleanable and good images free from surface stain and image transfer failure can be obtained from the early stage of image output.
