    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power line carrier communication system which safely changes couplers or separates the couplers from the system in a temporary manner without shutting off commercial power inputted to a base unit.
      SOLUTION: A base unit 1 includes: a communication section 15 for power line carrier communications with a slave unit 2 through a power line; a power supply terminal 11 connected to a power line L1-1; a communication coupler 14 connected between the communication section 15 and the power supply terminal 11; and a coupler connecting terminal 12 connected to a coupler 3 via a signal line L10. The communication coupler 14 includes: a capacitor C11 which is connected to the power supply terminal 11, shuts off commercial power supply frequency components, and allows the passage of the frequency components of power line carrier communications; and a transformer T1 which is connected between the capacitor C11 and the communication section 15. The coupler connecting terminal 12 is connected between the capacitor C11 and the transformer T1.
