    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sensor device that is inexpensive and has high detection accuracy, using a conventional optical sensor device (general-purpose product). SOLUTION: In the optical sensor device 15 for detecting a medium, based on variation of the light-receiving amount of a light-receiving element 16 by shielding of light from a light-emitting element 4 by a carrier medium, a translucent member 23 having a projection 24 is arranged, at a place where the light is transmitted from the light-emitting element 4 to the light-receiving element 16. The projection 24 is engaged with a hole 14 disposed in an upper conveyance guide 12, and is gripped and mounted so as to be overlap between the upper carrier guide 12 and the optical sensor device 15. As a result of such a constitution, the light emitted from the light-emitting element 4 is regulated and narrowed by the projection 24 of the translucent member 23.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device in which the moving range of a carriage frame is not restricted by a ribbon protector.
      SOLUTION: The width of the ribbon protector 4 is made substantially the same as that of the carriage frame 1, an arm part projecting in a direction orthogonal to the opposite face of a printing head is formed at both end parts of the ribbon protector 4 and is rotatably fitted to a support shaft 13 provided on both sides of the carriage frame. The rotation of the ribbon protector allows the cleaning member of a ribbon guide to wipe and clean the tip end face of the printing head.
