SOLUTION: This tool for cleaning an optical connector has a reel 4 of the cleaning sheet tape 3 where the tape 3 is wound in a rolled state, a tape traveling mechanism for traveling the tape 3 and a box unit for exposing a part of the tape 3 to the outside. A hold member 16 which has such a shape that the member 16 can be held and is fixed to a take-up reel of the tape traveling mechanism when the tape 3 is mounted in the box unit and a string 15 one edge of which is fixed to the member 16 and the other edge is fixed to the tip part of the tape 3 and which leads the tape 3 to the tape traveling mechanism are stuck temporarily by using a fixing adhesive tape 17 to the tape 3 before mounted in the box unit.
