    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide mold molten metal surface level control in continuous casting, where, even in the case a sliding nozzle is clogged or eroded, thus flow rate properties are changed, the flow rate properties are obtained with high precision, and on the basis of the estimated flow rate properties, the gain of a feed back controller including PI control is automatically adjusted, thus the loop gain of the control can be fixedly maintained.
      SOLUTION: With the cross-sectional area of a mold in a continuous casting machine, a casting speed, TD weight and an SN opening degree as input signals, by repeating the model calculation of flow rate properties based on the Newton's method while performing the correction of a loss factor, a loss factor in which the theoretical value and the actual value of the SN opening degree are made coincident with each other, and flow rate properties are calculated. Then, the gain of a feed back controller is automatically adjusted so as to be proportional to the estimated flow rate properties, thus the loop gain of the control is fixedly maintained.
