    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a railroad car provided with a structure capable of adequately protecting a passenger compartment even when a large external force is applied to an end body structure.SOLUTION: The end body structure 50 is provided at the end of the vehicle body 11 through a crushable zone 40. The end body structure includes an end pillar, a corner pillar, and a top reinforcement beam 56. Lower ends of the end pillar and the corner pillar and upper ends of the end pillar and the corner pillar are attached to an end beam 26 of an underframe and an upper reinforcement beam, respectively. The crushable zone includes a lower slide part in which a slide middle beam projected in a body bolster direction from the middle part of the end beam of the underframe and a guide middle beam projected in a car end direction from the body bolster are connected with a lower fuse member and an upper slide part in which a slide bar projected from the upper reinforcement beam and a guide frame provided in a side structure upper part are connected with an upper fuse member. Each fuse member is set to have strength to be broken when a load exceeding a previously set compressive load is applied to the end body structure.

Furthermore, protruding pieces which protrude outward of a vehicle body are provided at outer surface sides of end beams of the underframe and lower ends of the post reinforcing members are jointed to upper surfaces of the protruding pieces. Lower ends of the post reinforcing members are joined to outer surfaces of end beams through slits formed in the protruding pieces.
