    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to compute the deflection angle of a meter wherein operation is simplified by storing the inclination of the deflecting angle of the meter in a nonvolatile memory beforehand. CONSTITUTION:An input analog signal (a) is supplied to a control CPU 12 through an A/D converter 10. An input pulse signal (b) is supplied to a period detecting circuit 14. A period T of the input pulse signal is detected by counting a reference clock signal in the circuit 14. The CPU 12 and the circuit 14 output pulse signals to an operating block 18. In an E PROM 22, deflection angles thetam corresponding to a plurality of input values Sm(m=1, 2...) and an inclination angle Rm of the deflection angle of a meter between the neighboring input values Sm and Sm+1 are stored. The CPU 12 reads out the parameters stored in the E PROM 22 and supplies the data into the block 18. In the block 18, the deflection angle theta of the meter corresponding to the input signal S is computed, and the operated value of sin and cos are outputted to a driving means 24. In this way, dividing operation is eliminated with general-purpose applications being maintained, and the computation of the deflection angle of the meter wherein the operation is simplified can be performed.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the indication accuracy by reading a value indicated by the pointer, on the indication surface of the instrument correcting the value into a specific value, and writing the corrected value on a RAM, and writing the value on an E PROM when the value inters a specific range. CONSTITUTION:An indication signal of specific level is amplified by an amplifier in a CPU 3 to obtain a specific gain so that the pointer of an instrument main body 1 indicates a specific gradation; and the signal is supplied to the main body 1 through a driving circuit 5 to drive the main body 1. Then an image processing camera 2 reads the indicated value of the pointer of the main body 1, and compares the read measured value with a standard value to find the difference. When the measured value is within the specific range including the standard value, the gain of the amplifire in the CPU 3 is ampilfied so that the main body 1 makes a specific indication; and the result is written on a RAM in the CPU 3 and the main body 1 is driven again through the circuit 5 according to the arithmetic result. Further, when the pointer 1 of the main body 1 indicates a gradation within the specific range, the gain of the indication signal supplied to the main body 1 is transferred from the RAM in the CPU 3 to the E PROM 4.

    • PURPOSE:To detect the periods of input pulse signals with a variety of highest frequencies without increasing the number of bits of a counter by dividing the frequency of a reference clock signal at dividing ratios in accordance with the minimum periods of the input signals. CONSTITUTION:A speed sensor 10 outputs a pulse in accordance with the number of revolutions of a driven gear. A frequency divider 20 divides the frequency of a reference clock signal generated by a reference clock generator 16. A period detecting circuit 14 counts the periods T of input pulse signals by the frequency-divided reference clock signal. If the input signals with the minimum period Tmin are counted by the reference clock signal with a frequency fref, the frequency of the reference clock signal is divided into a frequency fref/2 when the input signals with minimum period 2T are counted. Thus, when the frequency of the reference signal is divided in an inverse proportion to the periods of the input signals, the same count can be obtained even when the input signals with the different minimum periods, that is, with the different highest frequencies are counted. Thus, the periods can be detected with the same accuracy without increasing the number of bits of counting.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent abnormal operation of a meter when driving power supplies are turned ON and OFF by prohibiting the indication driving of the meter during a period wherein the data from a CPU is uncertain and during a period wherein a driver cannot perform normal operation. CONSTITUTION:During a period from the time when driving power supplies for drivers 26a and 26 are turned ON to the time when correct data can be supplied after the elapse of a specified time, a control CPU 12 outputs the output-prohibiting signals to logic gates 30a and 30b. Thus the indication of a meter based on incorrect data is prohibited. When the specified time has elapsed at the time when the driver-driving power supplies were turned ON and the normal operation can be performed, the CPU 12 outputs the output allowance signals to the circuits 30a and 30b at first. When the specified time has elapsed and the driving voltage is lowered even when the driver-driving power supplies are OFF and when the driver cannot perform the normal operation, the CPU 12 outputs the output-prohibiting signals to the circuits 30a and 30b and prohibits the indication of the meter. Thus, the abnormal meter indication when the driver-driving power supplies and turned ON/OFF can be removed.
