    • PURPOSE: To produce a nickel plated material having a thin plating film having good brightness and excellent workability by subjecting an austenitic stainless steel having recrystalized structure to buffing then to semi-bright or bright plating.
      CONSTITUTION: The austenitic stainless steel having the recrystallized structure and excellent workability is subjected to buffing. Disk, bias, open, unit, unit cord and other buffs are suitably selectively used for polishing. The solid buffing material includes the fat and oil type materials prepd. by kneading an abrasive material such as fused alumina with a fatty acid, etc., or non-fat and oil types using glue, etc. The liquid buffing material includes emulsions of fats and oils dispersed therein with the abrasive material, etc. The steel subjected to such polishing is subjected to semi-bright or bright nickel plating. The nickel plating film having the excellent brightness and workability is thus obtd. even with thin plating of about 1μm.

    • PURPOSE: To produce a nickel plated material having good gloss and excellent workability by subjecting a rolling material of an austenitic stainless steel to semi-bright or bright nickel plating then to bright annealing or vacuum annealing.
      CONSTITUTION: The rolling material of the austenitic stainless steel having the recrystallized structure obtd. by heating to the recrystallization temp. of above and having the excellent workability is subjected to semi-bright or bright nickel plating by the conventional method. The rolling material subjected to such nickel plating is subjected to bright annealing or vacuum annealing. The bright annealing is executed in an inert gas such as the cracked gas of NH
      3 and the vacuum annealing is executed preferably in about ≥10
      -2 Torr vacuum. The nickel plating film having the good brightness and excellent workability is thus obtd. even with thin plating of about 1μm.
