CONSTITUTION:Warm water 5 is filled in a storage pipe 1 and lumps of snow 3 are fed in the pipe 1 from a shaft 2. Then the lumps of snow 3 are piled right below the shaft 2. Next, warm water kept in a water storage tank 4 is discharged at a stroke into the pipe 1 by instantaneously opening a gate 8 by an opening device 7. Then, lumps of snow 3 are dashed to the downstream and the space of the next lumps of snow to be fed is secured. The warm water is dashed to vigorously collide with the lumps of snow and the lumps are crushed into fractions. Then, the heat-transfer area is spread and the heat transfer from the warm water 5 to the lumps of snow 3 is accelerated. Since the warm water 5 flows vigorously and the relative stream speed of the snow lumps and the water increases, the heat transfer from the warm water to the lumps of snow is accelerated. In this way, a wide storage pipe space can be effectively used and a large quantity of snow can be thawed.

    • PURPOSE:To measure only the breaking resistance of ice plank by suspending an experimental model, which is placed on the central part of the framed bed that runs on the ice, by a supporter that is provided with both a stress detector and a damper and by oscillatably connecting the model to the bed by another supporter that is equipped with a stress detector. CONSTITUTION:The experimental model 2 is placed on the central part of the framed bed 1 that runs on the ice, and is suspended from the upper part of the framed bed 1 by the supporter 3 which is provided with the vertical-stress detector 10 and the damper 9, the other supporter 4 which is equipped with the horizontal -stress detector 12 is oscillatably installed between the model and the bed. When such an experimental device is pulled by the winch 16 or the like, the framed bed 5, 5 is slidden on the ice 19 and the experimental model 2 breaks the ice while it runs on the ice. In this way, the vertical and horizontal stresses which the experimental model 2 receives from the ice plank 19 can be detected to obtain the breaking resistance of the ice plank. Since the vertical motion of the experimental model 2 caused by a crack of the ice is absorbed by the damper 9, a result that approximates the case of an actual ship can be obtained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ice breaker, and an operation method thereof capable of conducting safe navigation and effective ice breaking of the ice breaker in a sea zone where accumulation of snow exists on an ice plate. SOLUTION: A water storage tank 12 which is also capable of regulating the trim of a hull at a higher position than a draft line 17 in a bow part, a drain mechanism 14 connected to its bottom part, a brine lifting pump 11, and a water injecting passage 22 for injecting water into the water storage tank 12 are provided. The drain mechanism 14 is composed of a drain port 13 and a switching valve 15, the drain port 13 is provided at a height of a specifies distance from the draft line 17, and a movable current plate 19 is provided in it, so regulation of a discharge direction and current regulation of discharged water are conducted. The drain port 13 is formed as a slit, and it is disposed along a flat surface form of the bow part. Water is injected into the water storage tank 12 to apply pressure downward to accumulated snow 8 on an ice plate 3, brine 12a is then discharged from the water storage tank 12 by gravitational fall onto the ice plate 3 while it is retracted, and an ice breaker 1 having the bow part on the ice plate 3 is released from the ice plate 3 to retract.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent snow from being melted by providing low temperature air blowing means on a base of accumulated snow and making a plurality of air holes from the surface of snow cover to the base at certain intervals. SOLUTION: Low temperature air is jetted into snow cover 3 from nozzles 5a of a header pipe 4 laid on the whole portion of the base 1, and cold air is uniformly cooled and permeated into the whole of snow. Next, the low temperature air arrives at an air hole 7 through air gap of snow 3, then rises up and is released from the surface of snow 3 to the outside; this air has a density larger than that of atmosphere so that the air flows in a laminar shape along the surface of the snow 3, and sensible heat transmission from the outside air on the surface of snow 3 is interrupted. Next, surroundings of the hole 7 and the snow 3 at an upper portion are frozen by the low temperature air permeated from the hole 7 to the snow 3, and the hardness and shearing strength increase. Moreover, cold heat is sequentially given from the lower layer of snow 3 to the upper layer so that the hardness and shearing strength of the lower layer become larger than those of the upper layer. By doing this, a good condition having no snow peeling can be maintained and the phenomenon of snow avalanche can be prevented even though the angle of tilt of the base is large.

    • PURPOSE: To make an ice having refreshing feeling by providing a pressure ice making container, a pressure regulator having a mechanism for regulating the pressure of ice making water in the ice making container, and a bubble generator having a mechanism for generating bubbles in the ice making water. CONSTITUTION: An ice making container 7 is filled with ice making water 9 and sealed hermetically. The ice making water 9 in the ice making container 7 is then cooled from the upper side 8, i.e., the cover 10 side, of the ice making container 7 to form a first ice making layer 17 directly under the cover 10. Respective electrodes 12a are then conducted by the outer power supply 12b of a bubble generator 12 to decompose the elements of the ice making water 9 thus generating bubbles 14. In this regard, the ice making water 9 is applied with a pressure from a pressure regulator 13 to produce high pressure bubbles 14. The bubbles 14 ascend while being diffused and adhere to the lower surface side of the ice making layer 17. Subsequently, the production of bubble 14 is stopped and the operation is repeated to produce a multilayer ice containing high pressure bubbles which generates a comfortable cracking sound when it is used in a drink.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ice breaker and a steering method therefor capable of breaking ice effectively when snow is accumulated on ice floe. SOLUTION: A water storage tank 12 provided at a higher position than a draft line 17 and a water discharge port 13 for discharging water 12a stored in the water storage tank are provided, and the water discharge port is arranged in a bottom part of a bow part and at a position higher than the draft line by a predetermined distance. A movable straightening plate 19 for straightening the flowing-out direction of water discharge and its flow is provided in the water discharge port, and a water discharge direction control mechanism for controlling the direction of the movable straightening plate is provided. Furthermore, the form of the water discharge port is like slit and is arranged on a line at least in one direction among the direction of ship width and the direction of ship side. The water stored in the water storage tank 12 is discharged on ice floe 3 at one time in a process in which an ice breaker advances or retracts in ice sea.
