    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide module for optical device capable of suppressing the loss of an optical waveguide and reducing the cost of an optical device. SOLUTION: An optical transmission/reception module 1 as the optical device is provided with this optical waveguide module 2 for disposing an LD 5 and PDs 6a and 6b. The optical waveguide module 2 is provided with a substrate member 3 and a waveguide device 4. In the substrate member 3, the LD 5 and the PDs 6a, 6b are connected to an electrode part 12 provided on a first reference surface 9 consisting of the flat surface of a substrate material 7 and a recessed part 10 or the like is provided. The waveguide device 4 is provided with the optical waveguide 20 formed on the flat surface 20a of a substrate 20 and a height adjustment film 22 and covering the optical waveguide 20. The part along the surface 20a of the height adjustment film 22 is a second reference surface 29. At the time of putting the optical waveguide 21 in the recessed part 10, the optical axis of the main core 26 of the optical waveguide 21 and the optical axis of the LD 5 are positioned on the same plane.

    • PURPOSE:To realize light weight and stabilizer function without a projection in the upper section by connecting a free end of a pair of arm sections made of FRP whose one end is connected to a car body by a beam section consisting of a beam member which is made of a metal pipe for connecting an arm and stretches in the direction of car width and an intermediate beam member made of FRP. CONSTITUTION:A free end 12 of a pair of arm sections 5, 5 made of FRP whose one end is fixed to a car body at a fixed end 10 is connected by an end beam member 20 of a beam section 6 in the direction of car width. The beam section 6 consists of a pair of beam members 20, 20 made of a steel round pipe and an intermediate beam member 21 made of FRP which is located between the end beam members 20, 20. The cross section of the intermediate beam member 21 is rectangular in which thickness in the up and down directions is larger than width in the forward and backward directions, and the intermediate beam member 21 is connected to a connection box 25 fixed to the end beam member 20 via a tapered wedge spacer 26. This constitution enables to realize light weight suspension and stabilizer function without a projection in a car room.

    • PURPOSE:To simply and surely prevent an FRP member from being cracked in its longitudinal direction by setting the plate width of the whole FRP member more than twice its plate thickness, and dividing the FRP member into plural elements in its cross direction, and setting the plate width of each element less than twice the plate thickness. CONSTITUTION:An FRP member 2 is U or J-shapedly or formed from an one- direction reinforcing fiber 17 extending along its longitudinal direction and a matrix resin 18. The FRP member 2 is employed as an impact absorber e.g. for use as the bumper of an automobile and the like and is used in such a way that a load is exerted thereon from the direction in which its radius of curvature is decreased. In this case, the FRP member 2 has its plate width (b) set more than twice its plate thickness (t). Further, the FRP member 2 is divided into plural elements 2a, 2b in its cross direction, at least as its curved portion 2c. The plate width (b') of each element 2a, 2b is set equal to each other and less than twice its plate thickness (t).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical waveguide, wherein a stable refractive index is obtained by removing impurities, the precision of parts is improved by straightening a warp of a substrate, the assembling precision in connection with the other optical device is also improved and the loss of a signal light is reduced. SOLUTION: In the case the optical waveguide having a core covered with a clad layer is manufactured, the first heating treatment is applied at a lower pressure before the second heating/pressurizing treatment is applied under a high pressure in order to remove voids generated in film formation. Thus, air bubbles of impurities being mixed in film formation are removed, the stable refractive index is obtained and the loss of optical signal is reduced. By the second heating/pressurizing treatment the warp of the substrate caused by the first heating/pressurizing treatment is straightened, precision for parts is improved, whereby the assembling precision in connection with the other optical device is improved, and the loss of optical signal is reduced. Thus, obtained optical waveguide is low in the internal loss including the loss owing to defective assembling with the other parts but high in the precision of the parts, and has high performance.
