    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact image sensor which prevents the occurrence of flaws and deposition of dust on the transport path surface of a target to be irradiated and is stable and is free from distortion of the transport path surface.
      SOLUTION: The contact image sensor includes: a light source 3 which irradiates a transported target 1 to be irradiated with light; a tabular transmission body 4 which is placed in the irradiation path of light from the light source 3 and transmits the light; a lens body 5 which converges reflected light reflected by the target 1; a light receiving portion 6 which receives the light converged by the lens body 5; a sensor substrate 7 having the light receiving portion 6 placed thereon; a first casing 8 wherein the light source 3, the lens body 5, and the sensor substrate 7 are stored; and a second casing 9 which is fitted and fixed to the first casing 8 and has a plurality of projections 9a brought into contact with the transmission body 4 in a plane parallel to a transport direction and is disposed so as to surround the transmission body 4. A space between the transmission body 4 and the second casing 9 except for the projections 9a is filled with an adhesive 11.

      SOLUTION: The lighting device includes: a light guide extended to the reading cross direction of the original document; holders, each installed at both ends of the light guide and having a hole; and a substrate. Each of the holders holds the light guide by inserting the perimeter extremity of the light guide into a part at one end side of the hole.
