In the holding body is rotatably attached a rotary tube 18 incorporated with a mechanic main body 19. In the outer periphery of the holding body is provided a slide body 46 movably in a longitudinal direction and the slide body 46 is moved by a touch button 40 provided in the barrel. In the holding body is housed a sleeve 54 moved forward by the slide body and rotated in a circumferential direction. On a front end face of the sleeve and on a rear end face of the rotary tube are arranged rotary feed gears 32 and 57, and the gears are engaged by movement of the sleeve to rotate the rotary tube and rotate the lead.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical pencil configured to deliver lead which falls by its own weight when a tip is knocked, while allowing reliable removal of remaining lead.SOLUTION: A lead tank 2 is provided in a body 1. A feed chuck part 45 and a pressing end 46 are provided on a fore end of the lead tank 2. When the lead tank 2 is knocked, a chuck piece 8 connected to a chuck 7 is pressed and lowered to open the chuck 7. Thus, a remaining lead 52 held by the chuck 7 is dropped by its own weight. The next lead 49 is held by the feed chuck part 45, thereby preventing the lead from falling.

When the compression cylinder 26 advances, the refill holder 23 also advances and presses the airtight 24 to bring the inner surface of the airtight 24 into closely contact with the refill to close the vent path 32.When the compression cylinder 26 advances further, the rear space of the refill 2 is pressurized by a compression chamber 53 provided in the compression cylinder 26.
