    • PURPOSE:To perform perfect combustion of an engine and prevent occurence of its black smoke, by controlling a fuel injection pump in accordance with a result of comparing the amount of fuel required for the perfect combustion at detected speed of the engine with the amount of fuel corresponding to preset speed of the engine from a control handle. CONSTITUTION:To detect rotary speed of an engine 3, a speed detector 2 is provided in the vicinity of a flywheel 9 and its output signal is input to a perfect combustion fuel amount calculator 4. The calculator 4 calculates the amount of fuel capable of perfect combustion at input speed to output a fuel actuator position R* corresponding to said amount of fuel. While a handle setting fuel amount calculator 5 calculates a difference between preset engine speed with a control handle 1 and detected engine speed and calculates the fuel amount for said difference to become minimum to output a fuel actuator position R. These positions R*, R are compared by a comparator 6, thus the injection amount of a fuel injection pump 8 is controlled by said compared result through a fuel actuator 7.

    • PURPOSE:To stop the movement of ship promptly at reversing rotation of engine, through provision of an air release valve and a brake valve which function such that air in cylinder effects negative work to engine during its idling rotation after fuel supply is interrupted and thereby shorten the time required for lowering the revolutional speed of engine to a level capable of injecting brake air. CONSTITUTION:In stopping movement of a ship in motion rapidly, fuel supply to main engine is stopped at first and brake valve 8 is then opened. Thereupon, air is supplied to a starting air control valve 6 through air passage 13, so that valve 6 is operated in relation with the position of starting cam 7. Resultantly, control air is supplied to the top portion of starting cam 5 from the time when piston is located near the top dead point to the time when it is moved to about 120 deg. position after the top dead point, and starting valve 5 is opened for releasing compressed air in cylinder 3 to the atmosphere via release valve 9. This causes rapid drop of the revolutional speed of engine. When the revolutional speed of engine is dropped to a level capable of actuating brake air, cam shaft is shifted to its reversing position and starting air is supplied to cylinder 3 as brake air with valve 9 being closed and starting-air control valve 1 being opened.
