    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of correcting a deviation of switching positions of recording elements between adjacent head modules in a line head having the head modules arranged to be overlapped in a staggered fashion and deviation of a recording position in a conveyance direction of a recording medium.
      SOLUTION: A switching position is set according to a test pattern which is formed by recording by using one recording element selected in the overlapped area of the adjacent head modules and a recording element of the other head module. An optimum time difference is obtained based on the test patterns formed by means of adjacent head modules by providing recording time differences therein, and then the deviation of the recording position is corrected by shifting the recording timings between the head modules.
