    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide antibacterial glass for exhibiting an antibacterial effect by releasing silver ion when brought into direct contact with water (except antibacterial glass for a washing machine for performing an antibacterial treatment with the silver ion during or after washing) and a method of manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: In a case of a flat antibacterial glass, its thickness is in a range of 0.1-5 mm and its maximum diameter (t1) is in a range of 8-30 mm. In a case of granular antibacterial glass, its maximum diameter (t1) is in a range of 3-25 mm. In either case, an elution amount of the silver ion is in a range of 0.5-100 mg/(g 24Hrs). BO, SiO, AgO, and alkali metal oxide are included as raw materials, with an additive amount of BObeing in a range of 30-60 mass%, an additive amount of SiObeing in a range of 30-60 mass%, an additive amount of AgO being in a range of 2-5 mass%, and an additive amount of alkali metal oxide being in a range of 5-10 mass with respect to the total amount.
