    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the treatment of excess ammoniacal liquor enabling the removal of free ammonia and fixed ammonia without causing the clogging of a gas flow channel in a condenser by the precipitation of a substance present in the excess ammoniacal liquor.
      SOLUTION: Excess ammoniacal liquor generated in the purification of coke oven gas is introduced into a vacuum ammoniacal liquor stripper 1 and the ammonia and an acidic gas in the excess ammoniacal liquor are removed by the vacuum stripping by taking advantage of the heat of the circulating hot ammoniacal liquor. The steam exhausted from the vacuum ammoniacal liquor stripper 1 is introduced into a 1st condenser 10 to effect the condensation and then introduced into a main condenser 19 or an auxiliary condenser 20 to perform further condensation of steam.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical method for the treatment of excess ammoniacal liquor capable of removing free ammonia and fixed ammonia.
      SOLUTION: Excess ammoniacal liquor generated in the refining of coke oven gas is introduced into a reduced-pressure ammoniacal liquor stripper 1 and stripped under reduced pressure using the heat of circulating hot ammoniacal liquor to remove ammonia and acidic gas in the excess ammoniacal liquor. Steam exhausted from the reduced pressure ammoniacal liquor stripper 1 is washed with an acidic aqueous solution in an acid cleaning column 23 before condensing the steam with a condenser 17.
