    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to safely ignite an oxygen lance without using a pilot fire by grinding or cutting the front end of a lance pipe with a grinder or cut saw, etc., and igniting the oxygen lance with generated frictional heat. SOLUTION: Gaseous oxygen 8 is supplied from a hose 4 and is ejected from the front end 1a of a lance pipe 1. The flow rate of the gas is previously throttled slightly by a valve 3 to prevent the heating of the front end 1a from being hindered by the cooling of the gaseous oxygen 8. Vigorous sparks 9 are generated from a contact part when the front end 1a of the lance pipe 1 is cut by the cutting teeth 7 of a grinder 6. Further, the cut port is heated red by feeding-in of the cutting teeth 7, by which the sparks of high luminance are begun to be mingled and the cut end is ignited. The front end 1a of the lance pipe 1 continues burning while dropping the metal 10 when the cutting teeth 7 are relieved rapidly. A gushing flame is obtd. by opening the valve 3. The ignition of the oxygen lance is possible without using the pilot fire in such a manner and the firing is possible even in a place where the arrangement of the pilot fire is undesirable for safety.

    • PURPOSE:To restrain wear of refractory and to further improve decarbonizing velocity by forming cross-sectional shape of a reduced pressure cylindrical body to elliptic shape and making eccentrically of setting position for a porous plug arranged at the bottom part of a ladle to major axial direction of the ellipse of reduced pressure cylindrical body. CONSTITUTION:The cross section of reduced pressure-cylindrical body 1a is formed to elliptic shape and the porous plug 13 in the ladle 7 is arranged at the eccentric position as far as possible to the major axial direction of the ellipse in the range of enclosing float-up bubbles 18 from the porous plug in the reduced pressure cylindrical body 1a. At near surface of the reduced pressure cylindrical body 1a in ascending stream developed accompanied with the float-up bubbles, at the time when flowing the stream toward reverse side to the setting position of porous plug 13, it is difficult to spread to the minor axial direction, and, surface stream 20B having strong directivity to the major axial direction is developed. When this surface stream collides to inner wall 15 of the reduced pressure cylindrical body 1a at the opposite side to the setting position of porous plug 13, the stream changes to a descending direction, but as the surface stream 20B in the reduced pressure cylindrical body 1a is the strong stream having directivity, the descending stream becomes strong stream.

    • PURPOSE:To safely produce a good-quality ingot providing a cylindrical grating type buckling adjusting flask to the inside of a cylindrical metallic core in the central part of a casting mold and blowing an inert gas during casting and water or gas-mixed mists after buckling of the core from a central cooling nozzle. CONSTITUTION:The cylindrical grating type buckling adjusting flask 7 having 5-50mm spaces to prevent the generation of shell cracking is disposed to the inside of the cylindrical metal core 6 disposed to the central part of the casting mold 2. The inert gas is blown to the metallic core 6 from the central cooling nozzle 8 during casting to permit the free shrinkage, on cooling, to the formed shell by the buckling of the metallic core 6, thereby preventing the generation of the surface cracking. The water or the water-gas mixed mists are blown to cool and strengthen the shell during the growth of the casting, by which the generation inverted V segregation is prevented and the buckling deformation is maintained within the specified value. The generation of the internal shell cracking and leakage of the molten steel are thus prevented. The ingot having the good quality without having cracks is thus formed and the hollow ingot is safely produced without the possibility of a steam explosion.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent an internal segregation without causing explosion by forming a cylindrical core of a metallic mold into a triple-wall construction, and charging a gas or a mixture of gas and liquid in-between the inner and intermediate cylinders, and charging the gas in between the intermediate and outer cylinders during a solidifying period or its former period and the liquid during the latter period. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical mold core 9 is set on the middle of a metallic mold 8 mounted on a mold plate 4, and is formed into a triple-wall construction. A gas or a mixture of gas and liquid is charged in-between the inner and intermediate cylinders 18, 16 from a refrigerant piping 20 through a discharging port 22. Further, the gas is charged in-between the intermediate and outer cylinders 16, 14 from a discharging port 26 of a refrigerant introducing pipe 24 through a solidifying period; or the gas for the former period, and the liquid for the latter period after gradual cooling are supplied to perform forces cooling. Thus an internal segregation at the central part of a casting is prevented by effectively performing the forced cooling of the core 9 without causing vapor explosion.
