摘要： PURPOSE:To reduce oxygen content in a steel and to produce a high cleanliness steel by adding CaO to a slag floating on a molten steel so that the mole ratio of CaO to predicted Al2O3 is regulated to a specific value in the initial stage of killing treatment by means of the addition of Al. CONSTITUTION:In killing treatment by means of the addition of Al succeeding rimming treatment, slag is reformed by adding CaO to the lower side of the slag by means of throwing CaO through a chute onto a molten steel in a vacuum tank in the initial stage of killing treatment in order to prevent the increase in the melting point. The melting point of the slag is reduced by adding CaO so that the mole ratio of CaO to Al2O3 is in the range where CaO/Al2O3 is 0.5 to 2.0 for the above purpose. As a result, oxygen content in the steel after vacuum degassing treatment can be reduced, and a dead-soft carbon steel of high cleanliness can be produced with certainty independently of various variances in respect of vacuum decarburizing treatment.
