      SOLUTION: The inclined-plate settler is constituted of a settling tank and an inclined settling-accelerator such as an inclined plate disposed therein with the surface of the inclined settling-accelerator covered with a layer formed by hydrophilization treatment. The inclined settling-accelerator is a member made from a material such as stainless steel, a titanium alloy and a resin, the surface of which has been subjected to hydrophilization treatment. The layer formed by hydrophilization treatment preferably has hydrophilicity represented by a contact angle with water of 40° or lower.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid/liquid separation apparatus which is high in filtering rate, is free from clogging and is high in the recovery ratio of a solid matter.
      SOLUTION: The solid/liquid separation apparatus uses filter cloth, the filter cloth being a resin with the surface subjected to a hydrophilicizing treatment. The solid/liquid separation apparatus increases the filtering rate by a capillary action of the surface of the filter cloth, by reforming the surface of the resin filter cloth by hydrophilicizing treatment. The formation of a thin water film on the filtering surface prevents attachment of protein in sludge on the filter cloth surface, resulting in the realization of the solid/liquid separation apparatus which is high in the filtering rate, is free from the clogging and is high in the recovery ratio of the solid matter.

The raw water supplied to the drum enters the filtration chambers, is filtered with the filter cloth 8 and drained out of the filtration chambers as filtrate. The filter segment 5 is mounted inside the filter support unit 4.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely and inexpensively prevent clogging of a screen residue carrier pipe caused by compaction even if the bulk density of screen residues is low at the time of pumping of the screen residues generated in a process of sewage treatment by using a piston pump.
      SOLUTION: This screen residue pumping device is provided with the piston pump 7 including a discharge piston 9, a discharge cylinder 10 and a gate valve 12 provided in the discharge side of the discharge cylinder 10 and with the screen residue carrier pipe 8 connected to the discharge cylinder 10 via the gate valve 12. The piston pump 7 carries screen residues by repeating a filling process of filling screen residues inside the discharge cylinder 10, a compression process of compressing the screen residues by the discharge piston 9 and a pushing-out process of pushing out the compressed screen residue inside the discharge cylinder 10 to inside of the screen residue carrier pipe 8 by opening the gate valve 12. The screen residue pumping device is further provided with a water feeding means 1 feeding water to the compressed screen residues pushed out into the screen residue carrier pipe 8 from the filling process to the compression process in the vicinity of a connection part of the gate valve 12 and the screen residue carrier pipe 8.
