    • PURPOSE:To obtain a stable recording operation by a method wherein a laser-driving current is controlled by utilizing the driving signal of, and positional information on, a relay lens for focusing use and a change in recording power on the face of a recording medium due to the displacement of the relay lens for focusing control use is suppressed. CONSTITUTION:A beam of recording-face reflected light from an optical recording medium 9 is passed through a light path in the reverse direction; it is reflected by a splitter 3; it is guided to a reproducing optical system 10; a servo signal for a focusing tracking operation is detected and a recorded signal is reproduced. When the displacement of a focusing relay lens 5 is zero, the aperture diameter of an object lens 8 is nearly equal to the light flux of a beam of object-lens incident light 11. The beam of lens incident light which displaces the lens 5 to the direction of the lens 8 by means of an actuator 6 is converged; its spot diameter becomes large; a beam of radiant light becomes large. When it is displaced to the reverse direction, the spot diameter is narrowed and the power is reduced. When it is displaced further, its diameter is increased again due to its aberration. The position of the focusing relay lens is detected; after that, the driving current of an LD is controlled in such a way that the arrival rate of LD radiant power on the recording medium in its position is not changed largely. Thereby, a stable recording operation is performed.

    • PURPOSE:To stabilize a focus servo system and enhance its performance by generating a gain which compensates change in the detection sensitivity of focus error, setting said gain to a focus error detection stage, and maintaining constant the whole servoloop gain. CONSTITUTION:An addition point 15 determines the deviation between the distance f1+ (distance between an object lens 4 and an optical recording medium) and a converging point f1+ ' of the lens 4 and outputs focus error voltage equivalent to and deviation - '. This voltage is amplified by a voltage control amplifier 17 and further amplified by a voltage amplifier 19 by way of a phase compensation equalizer 18, thereby driving a focus actuator 5. The converging point of the lens 4 is turned to f1+ ' by the displacement '' of the actuator 5 while the output of the amplifier 19 controls the gain of the amplifier 17 to the inverse number of the Fe detection sensitivity by way of a buffer amplifier 20 and a filter 21.
