    • PURPOSE:To enhance the breeding efficiency of tritium and to save costly lithium by packing a tritium breeding material using depleted lithium to the side near plasma and packing a tritium breeding material using enriched lithium behind the same. CONSTITUTION:The breeding material which is loaded to a blanket 3 of a nuclear fusion reactor and is used to produce tritium is constituted of the tritium breeding material 4 using the depleted lithium and the tritium breeding material 5 using the enriched lithium. The tritium breeding material 4 using the depleted lithium is packed to the side near the plasma 1 which is a nuclear fusion reaction section and the tritium breeding material 5 using the enriched lithium is packed behind the same. The tritium is formed in the moderation process of high energy neutrons without losing the neutron number in the packed layer of the tritium breeding material 4. The low energy neutrons enter the packing layer of the tritium breeding material 5. Most of the neutrons are utilized for the formation of the tritium in the packed layer of the tritium breeding material 5.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a back-up reactor stopping device by coating the surface of a nuclear formed out of boron carbide in a fixed shape, with graphite and holding strength to impact at the time of fall charge. CONSTITUTION:The captioned absorber 1 is formed of a core 22 sintered out of boron carbide to form in the form of a ball and graphite coating 23 performed on the surface of the core 22 and housed as a neutron absorber 14 in a hopper 15. In operation the absorber 21 is held at the temperature which is in the neighborhood of the melting point of the impurities B2O3 containing in the core 22, but its deposition is prevented by the coating 23. Further, when a back-up reactor stopping device 13 is actuated and the absorber 21 falls to charge in an inserting hole 19 from a rupture disc 16, sufficient strength is held to produce no damage. Therefore, the reliability of the device 13 can be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the mutual fusion of neutron absorbers so as to improve the reliability of a back-up reactor stop device by disposing boron metal at the core part of the neutron absorber, and enveloping its periphery with graphite and also forming it into the granular state. CONSTITUTION:A neutron absorber 20 is mounted into the hopper 15 of a back-up reactor stop device 13 earthed on the upper part of the reactor core 2 of a graphite-moderated helium gas cooling reactor. During the operation of the reactor, the absorber 20 is placed for many hours under the temperature close to 500 deg.C, but the mutual fusion of the absorbers 20 is not generated since the absorber 20 does not contain noncombustible boron oxide. Accordingly, when the back-up reactor stop device 13 is actuated to burst a rupture disc 16 and thereby to open the lower end of the hopper 15, the absorber 20 falls by its own weight into an insertion hole 19 in the reactor core 2 without delay to stop the reactor.

    • PURPOSE:To simplify a nuclear reactor upper mechanism and enable easy design, fabrication, installation etc. by driving control rods with the balance of fluid force of coolant supplied in the guide tube from the bottom and the elastic force of elastic parts. CONSTITUTION:On the incore structure 2 at the lower core 1 in a reactor vessel 3, control rod guide tubes 14 are supported in a manner of mounting and dismounting, and control rods 12 are provided below them and springs 15, upper inside of them. Since coolant pressurized with a reactor coolant pump is introduced from a high pressure plenum 17 into the lower inside of the guide tubes 14 and the control rods are driven by the balance of the fluid force and the spring 15's force, the upper reactor mechanism is simplified. And a refueling device 7 is located in the center of shield plug 4 during reactor operation. for refueling during shut down the eccentricity of an arm 13 is variable and rotatable so that the gripper 10 of the device can reach any position in the whole core. By this, a rotary plug becomes unnecessary and the structure of the plug 4 can be simplified.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the installation area and installation cost, by regenerating and preheating absorbent when it is circulated and feeding to an absorbent container. CONSTITUTION:An absorbent container 11 for containing absorbent 10 which absorbs gas and a nitrogen cooling shevron 12 surrounding said container 11 are arranged in an exhaust duct 13, then a heater regenerator 15, feeding device 17 and a precooler 18 are coupled sequentially through an absorbent circulation piping 20 with the absorbent container 11. Consequently, absorbent 10 being regenerated and pre-cooled when it is circulated is fed into the absorbent container 11. Gas in the exhaust duct 13 absorbed by the absorbent 10, then the gas is discharged through regeneration of the absorbent 10 thus carrying out vacuum discharge of gas. Consequently, the installation area and the installation cost can be reduced, while furthermore the storage volume of gas can be reduced resulting in the improvement of safety.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the fusion of neutron absorbers to each other and to enhance the reliability of a reactor shutdown device by mixing pure metal boron powder and graphite powder, molding the mixture to a prescribed shape and subjecting the mixture to a heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:The neutron absorber is formed by kneading the powders of the pure metal boron B and the graphite C by an org. resin binder, compaction- molding the mixture to pellet shapes and heat treating the pellets in a vacuum. The neutron absorbers 20 molded in such a manner are installed in the upper part of a reactor core and are then loaded into a hopper 15 of the reactor shutdown device 13. The neutron absorbers 20 are maintained at about 500 deg.C over a long period of time during the operation of the reactor. Since the neutron absorbers 20 do not contain an impurity B2O3, the fusion of the neutron absorbers 20 to each other is obviated.
