    • PURPOSE:To improve the strength and to facilitate the manufacture, by connecting two members with a step therebetween in a longitudinal direction through bellows having S-shape in cross section thereof. CONSTITUTION:There is a step H between a flange 6 at an upper portion of a drum of a heat exchanger and a tube plate 7, a selected surface of the flange 6 has an intermediate member 16 welded at 18 thereto, a selected surface of the tube plate 7 has an intermediate member 17 welded at 19 thereto and the bellows 20 are welded to the members 16, 17. The thickness of connecting ends 16', 17' of the members 16, 17 is equal to a thickness (t) of the bellows 20. The bellows 20 are formed of a thin steel plate with the thickness (t), and have the first and second arcs 21, 22 with their openings directed oppositely to form an S-shaped cross section thereof. Both the arcs 21, 22 have the same radius R1 (R2). Thus, stress to be induced radially at the weld zone of the attached ends of the bellows can be reduced and therefore this is quite advantageous in view of the strength.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent fluid from staying in an O ring groove by constituting an O ring groove constructon such that fluid which have entered the O ring groove is wholly collected into a fluid collector groove stepped below a seal surfce and is exhausted out of the fluid collector groove. CONSTITUTION:A collector groove for collecting fluid 3 therein is provided on the bottom of an O ring groove which does not serve as a seal surface. Fluid 3 which has entered the O ring groove through a gap between opposing surfces of flanges 2 is sealed between the bottom surface of the groove and the seal surface of the flange 2 by an O ring 1 so that it is after all flowed forcibly into the collector groove 4 formed along a corner of the groove. Since the inside of the collector groove forms a pressure boundary, pressure is constantly applied thereto so that fluid 3 flowed into the collector groove 4 is exhausted from the groove 4 through an exhaust slot 5 communicated to the groove 4. The exhaust slot 5 is bored in a suitable gradient from the fluid collector groove 4 towards the inside or the outside of the machine.
