    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handy printing system for reducing the interruption of printing due to paper setting requests by printing on both sides of unused paper if the unused paper is set in a printer with respect to a double side printing job, and printing on one side of backing paper if there is no unused paper. SOLUTION: Paper set information is set corresponding to each paper feeding tray, a value for distinguishing whether it is backing paper or unused paper is set in the corresponding paper set information when paper is put in the paper feeding tray, and the value of the paper set information is checked by a job when both side printing is assigned in the printing job. If there is a paper feeding tray holding unused paper, both side printing is outputted from the paper feeding tray holding the unused paper, and if there is no paper feeding tray holding unused paper and there is a paper feeding tray holding backing paper, one side printing is carried out from the paper feeding tray holding the backing paper.     • PURPOSE:To control a plurality of format data efficiently so as to make it possible to use them effectively by a method wherein the format data of plurality of types is controlled by constituting them of a plurality of components of partial format elements and component arrangement information for designating an arrangement of the components in a page, the components of the format elements are composed being arranged by the component arrangement information at printing so as to output as a format data. CONSTITUTION:A printing format control system 1 is constituted of a component data group storage 2, a component arrangement information storage 3, and a format data generating processor. The component data group storage 2 stores component data as format elements of the format data and the component arrangement information storage 3 stores component arrangement information for combining components as format elements of the format data and designating positions of the components in a page. When a desired component arrangement information I is selected, a format data 8a is formed in which the component arrangement information I is combined with a component data necessary for the information I, so that printing of a fixed format is controlled together with a variable data 6 of a data to be printed.

    • PURPOSE:To permit the utilization of high degree printing technique such as copy printing or the like even in picture printing or multi-page printing accompanied by the procession of letters out of by a method wherein the procession of the letters out of standard is effected for every one page even when the printing of two pages or more is effected on one sheet of paper to change the writing of the area of letters out of standard of a font memory. CONSTITUTION:The printing data of a first page is transmitted from a higher order device 1 and is accumulated in a receiving buffer 2. The received data are provided with an index of an address conversion table 4 from letter codes given to respective letters by an editing processor 3, then, are converted into the address of a font memory 7, into which the pattern data of corresponding letters are stored, to accumulate them into a page buffer 5. When the pattern data corresponding to the letter codes are not stored in the font memory 7, the procession of letters out of standard becomes necessary. The editing processor 3 provides the index of a control table 6 for the letters out of standard, which controls respective letters out of standard storing area prepared by (n) pieces per one page in the area 9 of letters out of standard of the font memory 7 and obtains the storing area of the letters out of standard, which are not employed yet, in said page to allot it newly for the pattern data of the letters out of standard and store the font memory address of storing area of said letters out of standard into the page buffer 5.
