      SOLUTION: The bill depositing device includes a receiving unit 25 which receives a plurality of bills P one by one; a carrying unit 30 which carries the bills P received by the receiving unit 25; an accumulation unit 60 which accumulates the bills P carried by the carrying unit 30; an identification unit 40 which is provided on the carrying unit 30 to identify and count the bills P carried by the carrying unit 30; and a storage 70 which receives and stores the bill P accumulated in the accumulation unit 60. The accumulation unit 60 includes a hold-carrying mechanism 10 which holds the surfaces of the bills P accumulated in the accumulation unit 60 and carries the bills P in a direction parallel to the surface to be stored in the storage 70. A front opening 61 for taking the accumulated bills P from the outside and a front shutter 62 for opening and closing the front opening 61 are provided on the front side of the accumulation unit 60.
