    • PURPOSE:To obtain a base material having good close adhesion to a sensitizing layer by making stains difficult to be generated without squashing a shadow part by a method wherein a brush graining process in which a surface of an aluminum sheet is roughened with at least two kinds of brushes having a different hair diameter with each other is provided. CONSTITUTION:In a method for manufacture of an aluminum base material for lithographic printing plate, roll-like brushes 2, 4 and respective two supporting rolls 5, 6 and 7, 8 are arranged by pinching an aluminum sheet between them. The aluminum sheet 1 is pressurized with the roll like brushes 2, 4 and carried at a specific speed under a state wherein it is pushed between the supporting rolls 5, 6 and 7. Polishing slurry solution 3 is fed, and the roll-like brushes 2, 4 are rotated to polish a surface thereby. Then, a hair diameter of the brush is a thick diameter of, for example, 0.57-1.20mm for the first brush 2 and a thin diameter of, for example, 0.10-0.34mm for the second brush 4. After roughening the surface with the thick hair diameter brush 2, it is treated with the thin hair diameter brush 4.

    • PURPOSE:To provide the titled base suitable for an electrochemical roughening treatment, having excellent fatigue strength, thermal softening characteristics and printability and less susceptible to contamination of non-image parts, by forming the titled base from an aluminum alloy containing 0.05-0.20 (exclusive) wt% of Fe, the balance being Al and unavoidable impurities. CONSTITUTION:Ti is added to Al for the purpose of enhancing the strength and thermal softening resistance of the titled base without adversely affecting roughenability or printability and for preventing the elongation after cold rolling from being lowered. If the Ti content is less than 0.05wt%, the thermal softening resistance is insufficient, and the elongation after cold rolling is low. On the other hand, if the Ti content is not less than 0.20wt%, a uniform roughened surface can not be obtained by an electrochemical surface roughening method, and coarse grains of TiAl3 is formed, which causes contamination at the time of printing or the like. Although Fe is effective in enhancing fatigue strength, if the Fe content exceeds 0.50wt% or the Si content exceeds 0.20wt%, an Al-Fe-Si compound or an Al-Fe compound is formed, resulting in that contamination at the time of printing is liable to occur. An Al alloy base having an elongation of not less than 5% and a stiffness in terms of proof strength of not less than 10kg/mm is satisfactory for practical use. Then, electrochemical graining in conducted, chemical etching is performed by using an acid or an alkali and, if required, anodic oxidation, a chemical conversion treatment or the like is conducted.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a planographic plate having excellent hydrophilic property, water retention and high durability in printing and being less liable to generate contamination of non-image parts, by a method wherein an electric current having an asymmetrical alternating wave form is impressed on an aluminum plate in an aqueous solution containing nitric acid and a specified amount of a chloride to electrolytically roughen the surface of the aluminum plate. CONSTITUTION:An electric current having an asymmetrical alternating wave form is impressed on the aluminum plate in an aqueous solution containing nitric acid and a chloride in an amount of 0.25-0.5pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of nitric acid, thereby electrolytically roughening the surface of the aluminum plate. The electrolyte solution must contain small but effective amounts of nitric acid and the chloride in combination as active electrolytes. The chloride is preferably aluminum chloride, ammonium chloride, magnesium chloride, zinc chloride or the like. Accordingly, a uniform grain with a high surface roughness can be obtained, and a planographic plate can be obtained which has high water retention, hydrophilic property and durability in printing, and is less liable to generate contamination of non-image parts.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photosensitive lithographic printing plate which shows a good balance between the developing property for an aq. alkali developer and the printing durability and which is hardly contaminated, by subjecting an aluminum surface to roughening treatment by brush polishing and further by electrolysis in hydrochloric acid, then subjecting to anodic oxidation and to hydrophilic treatment, and forming a photosensitive compsn. layer containing a diazo resin and an alkali-soluble urethane resin on aluminum surface. SOLUTION: The surface of an aluminum body is roughened by brush polishing and further by electrolysis in hydrochloric acid, and the surface is subjected to anodic oxidation and to hydrophilic treatment. Then a photosensitive compsn. layer containing a diazo resin and an alkali-soluble urethane resin is formed on the aluminum surface. The urethane resin is the reaction product of an isocyanate component containing diisocyanate expressed by the formula by 40 to 90 mol.% in the whole isocyanate component and a diol component containing specified diols by 30 to 90 mol.% in the whole alcohol component. In the formula R1 to R4 are each a hydrogen atom, a 1 to 4C alkyl group, a 1 to 6C alkoxy group or halogen atom.

    • PURPOSE:To substantially obviate the generation of stains in shadow parts on a printing machine and to make it possible to obtain stable printed matter having high quality by specifying a relation between a base subjected to surface roughening and the surface roughness after development of a photosensitive layer formed on the surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:The surface roughness Ra of the base surface of the photosensitive planographic printing plate formed by providing the surface of the base subjected to the surface roughening with the photosensitive layer and the difference DELTARa between the surface roughness Ra of this base surface and the surface roughness TRa of the photosensitive layer after development are so set as to satisfy equation, where units are both mum. An aluminum sheet or the like is more preferable as this base. The aluminum sheet having about 0.1 to 0.6mm thickness is subjected to a sand dressing treatment by an electrochemical sand dressing method, etc., and is then etched by an alkali, etc. The conditions for application of the photosensitive layer are controlled according to the surface roughness of the base surface subjected to surface roughening. The base surface is respectively so treated that the surface roughness Ra of the base surface attains 0.2 to 1.5mum (10muR stylus) and is further preferably 0.4 to 1.2mum.
