摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a nonwoven fabric-made air filter medium which is low in a pressure loss and high in collection efficiency.
SOLUTION: A fibrous web obtained by blending 30-80 mass% dividable fiber with 70-20 mass% non-dividable fiber is prepared. The denier of the non-dividable fiber is made coarser than that of the undivided dividable fiber. This fibrous web is subjected to hydroentanglement processing. As a result, the dividable fiber is divided to produce a superfine fiber and at the same time one superfine fiber is entangled with another superfine fiber and the non-dividable fiber is entangled with the superfine fiber. In the hydroentanglement processing, the non-dividable fiber having thick denier plays a part in keeping the gap through which a water current passes. Therefore, the dividable fiber existing inside the fibrous web can be divided satisfactorily. The pressure loss of this nonwoven fabric-made air filter medium can be made low by the gap kept by the non-dividable fiber. The collection efficiency of this nonwoven fabric-made air filter medium can be improved by the dividable fiber divided inside the fibrous web.

The weight ratio of the component (A) in the fiber treating agent is 20-80wt.% and that of the component (B) and/or component (C) is 80-20wt.%. The component (A) is a composition composed mainly of a vinyl ether-maleic anhydride copolymer, the component (B) is at least one kind of nonionic surfactant selected from alkylene oxide-added nonionic surfactants and polyhydric alcohol-type nonionic surfactants, and the component (C) is at least one kind of anionic surfactant selected from a carboxylic acid salt, a sulfonic acid salt, a sulfuric acid ester salt and a phosphoric acid ester salt.
