摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector and a projecting method, wherein periods of colors constituting segments of the CW can be arbitrarily set in a projector using a white light source and a color wheel (CW), flexibility of controlling a temperature of a lamp in the light source can be increased and types of usable lamps can be increased.
SOLUTION: The projector is equipped with: a light source lamp 19 emitting white light by AC discharge lighting; a CW 20 having segments in a plurality of colors radially formed with optional center angles, the segments to be inserted into an optical path from the light source lamp 19 and driven to rotate to transmit a plurality of wavelength band components in the white light on a time-shared basis; a CW driving unit 27 and a motor 26 to drive to rotate the CW 20 at a predetermined rotational speed; and a control unit 29 and a lamp driving unit 24 for lighting by synchronizing the polarity inversion timing of the light source lamp 19 to the switching timing of segments of the CW inserted into the optical path.
