摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of defects in quality by providing a specified strain point and a specified Cl content in the matrix glass. SOLUTION: The float glass for a display substrate has >=580 deg.C strain point and 0.01-0.09 wt.%, preferably 0.03-0.09 wt.% Cl content based on the amount of the matrix glass. When the Cl content exceeds the upper limit, the frequency of occurrence of defects due to deposits of 20-300 μm size present on the surface and defects due to recesses of >=1 μm depth present in the surface increases. In the case of below the lower limit, a sufficient refining effect is not produced. The float glass may contain up to 200 ppm SO3 for refining based on the amount of the matrix glass. Alkali oxides may be contained in the float glass by up to 2.0 wt.% of the amount of the matrix glass.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease toughness of a glass than the toughness before the treatment by adding specified pressure in a specified temp. range including the strain temp. of the glass. SOLUTION: When the strain temp. of the glass is T deg.C, the glass is treated by adding >=1 GPa pressure in a temp. range from 20 deg.C to (T+300) deg.C. The pressurizing temp. to apply the pressure is preferably =(T-300) deg.C and when T is lower than 220 deg.C, the pressurizing temp. is controlled to >=(T-200) deg.C. Since a high pressure is required, a hot press, an HIP(hot isotropic pressurizing device) or ultrahigh pressure generating device for the synthesis of diamond is used. Low toughness can be usually realized at about >=5 GPa. However, it depends on the glass material, and for a certain kind of glass material, low toughness can be realized at >=3 GPa or >=1 GPa. If the pressure is too low, sometimes the glass is made dense to have high toughness.

CONSTITUTION:Granular, cylindrical or platelike glass bodies crushed by water granulation or other method to a size smaller than the size of crystallized glass as an end product and larger than 0.5mm are softened and melt-bonded. Acicular or dendritic crystals are deposited from the interface between the melt-bonded glass bodies in directions unspecified to the interface and a pattern based on the crystals is formed. The acicular crystals may be of beta-wollastonite and the dendritic crystals may be of devitolite. The resulting crystallized glass has superior mechanical strength, especially fracture toughness, ensures a superior design and can widely be utilized as interior finishing materials such as an inner wall material and a room dividing material.

摘要： PURPOSE:To eliminate the defect to liquate out ions of Si, Mg, or the like, and to increase the safety to a living body, by covering the surface of the portion of a glass or a glass ceramics contacting to the living body with apatite crystals. CONSTITUTION:An apatite layer is formed at the surface of a material by soaking a bioactive glass or a crystallized glass in a solution of pH 5-10. In this case, as such an apatite crystal, apatite hydroxide composed mainly of phosphorus and calcium which is the component same as a natural bone is preferable. The diameter of the apatite crystalline layer is preferably less than 1mum, and its thickness is preferably 0.5mum or more. Furthermore, this apatite crystal prevents the liquation of the living body material, contacts to the living body material rigidly, being dense, and has a strength not to be removed easily. Consequently, even though it is buried in the living body, ions of Si, Mg, or the like is not liquated, and a highly safe material can be obtained. Moreover, the bone leading time is also reduced to speed up the recovery time.
