    • PURPOSE:To prevent the difference in car height ascending time between a right and a left wheel, and concurrently prevent the inclination of a vehicle and running stability from being degraded by making at least either pump, the gas spring or the other component one in number, which consist of a height adjusting mechanism, and thereby integrally controlling the car height of the right and left wheels. CONSTITUTION:A pump 32 is formed within the piston rod 3 of a left absorber, in which a pump rod 4 is inserted. An inlet valve 43 formed in the pump rod 4 is communicated with a low pressure chamber 13, and is concurrently communicated with the pump 32. An outlet valve 36 formed in the piston rod 3 is communicated with the pump 32, and is concurrently communicated with each operating chamber 21 and each gas spring 5. Since the heights of the right and left absorbers are adjusted by the pump 3 built in the left absorber, even if there exists the difference in a road condition between a right and a left wheel, the occurrence of the difference in height ascending time between the right and left wheels is prevented, and thereby the inclination of a vehicle and running stability can be prevented from being degraded.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent worsening of a riding sensation and driving stability by a method wherein a damping force is compensated according to the change of a car weight and damping characteristics responding to a car weight are realized. CONSTITUTION:In a hydraulic pneumatic cylinder, the opening pressures of damping force generating valves 61 and 71 formed to a piston 31 and a base valve member 7, respectively, are regulated by opening pressure regulating means 62 and 72 by utilizing the pressure changes of a working chamber 21 and a high pressure chamber 52 responding to the change of a car weight. Thus, a damping force is effectively compensated according to the change of a car weight to realize optimum damping characteristics responding to the change of the car weight, and worsening of a riding sensation and drive stability is prevented from occurring. A coil spring 65 and a leaf spring 64 are disposed above and below a piston 31 and a base valve member 7, and a damping force is regulatable both on the expansion side and the contraction side of an absorber. Thus, a variable range in a wide range is realized and an ideal damping force is generated.
