    • PURPOSE: To supply oil pressure by a single modulator valve by switching the reduced supply pressure from one modulator valve so as to supply this pressure to the hydraulic servo of a friction engaging element while regulating the rise of pressure through each supply orifice. CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic control device for an automatic transmission is provided with the hydraulic servos B-1, B-3 of a plurarity of friction engaging elements engaged to attain an engine brake in respectively different speed change ranges, a manual valve 31 for outputting oil pressure in correspondence with each speed change range, a modulator valve 32 for reducing oil pressure to the supply pressure PM to the hydraulic servos B-1, B-3, a 1-2 shift valve 38 and a pressure response valve 33 serving as switching means for supplying the modulator pressure PM, reduced by the modulator valve 32, selectively to either one of the hydraulic servos B-1, B-3, and supply orifices 34, 35.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the malfunction of a selector valve due to unbalanced pressure on individual portions with the oscillation of basic pressure at a low temperature.
      SOLUTION: This hydraulic pressure control device for an automatic transmission comprises a plurality of hydraulic servos B-1, B-2, C-0 to C-2 for engagement/disengagement of a plurality of friction engagement elements B1, B2, C0 to C2 with each other and the selector valve 62 to which the basic pressure to be supplied to each hydraulic servo and hydraulic pressure to be supplied to the predetermined hydraulic servo in opposition to the basic pressure are applied and which is changed over when the hydraulic pressure to be supplied to the predetermined hydraulic servo is generated. One-way valves 71, 42 are provided between an oil passage for the basic pressure communicated with the selector valve and an oil passage for the hydraulic pressure to be supplied to the predetermined hydraulic servo for permitting distribution from the oil passage side of the hydraulic pressure to be supplied to the hydraulic servo to the oil passage side of the basic pressure but prohibiting the distribution in the opposite direction. The selector valve is desirably constructed to prevent the simultaneous engagement of the friction engagement elements in certain combination. Preferably, the selector valve is a spool valve.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a tooth flank of each gear in a planetary gear of an automatic transmission from being locally worn and deteriorating in tooth contact. SOLUTION: The automatic transmission mechanism 7 comprises the planetary gear 11 and a plurality of clutches C1, C2, C3 and brakes B1, B2, B3 for selectively switching an operating state of the planetary gear to form a plurality of gear stages. In a condition that a gear stage detection means 25 detects a gear stage in which the planetary gear rotates in its entirety, a control means 20 switches the respective clutches or brakes for temporarily changing the gear stage to another gear stage. Switching of the respective clutches or brakes is preferably done when driving above a predetermined vehicle speed in the gear stage in which the planetary gear integrally rotates beyond a predetermined time duration and when transmission power of the automatic transmission is reduced in the case of braking or the like.
