摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining device, in which a tool rest can be arranged on the upper side of a headstock without increase in the overall height of the device. SOLUTION: The machining device 1 includes a lathe 10 and a transfer device 50 which carries a work W to the lathe 10. The lathe 10 includes: a main spindle 15 disposed with its axis being horizontal; a chuck 16 provided on a distal end of the main spindle 15 to hold the work W; the headstock 17 supporting the main spindle 15; the tool rest 13 disposed on the upper side of the main spindle 15, to which a tool T is installed; and support structures 11 and 12 for supporting the headstock 17 and the tool rest 13. The transfer device 50 includes a moving body 53 provided under the main spindle 12 to be movable in a direction orthogonal to the axial line of the main spindle 12 within a horizontal plane; support members 51 and 52 movably supporting the moving body 53; holding mechanisms 61 and 62 for holding the work W; a raising/lowering mechanism 63 provided on the moving body 53 to support and move up and down the holding mechanisms 61 and 62; and a horizontally driving mechanism for moving the moving body 53.
