摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to control color material reduction degree of an entire printed image in an image forming apparatus in which the color material reduction degree is separately set for each image area. SOLUTION: An arithmetic operation part 101 for target amount determines a target use amount based on a first color material reduction rate designated by the user. An arithmetic operation part 102 for provisional amount obtains a provisional use amount that is a provisional value of color material use amount for each image area based on second color material reduction degree set for each image area. An adjusting part 103 performs increase processing of increasing the provisional use amount when the summed-up provisional use amount is less than the target use amount, and performs decrease processing of decreasing the provisional use amount when the summed-up provisional use amount is more than the target use amount, thereby making the summed-up value of the adjusted use amount that is the provisional use amount after the increase processing or the decrease processing agree with the target use amount. The adjusting part 103 determines an increase amount or a decrease amount for the provisional use amount so that the increase amount or the decrease amount may be larger as the provisional use amount is larger. 摘要： A compression process and apparatus includes: generating a background layer by extracting a text region from an input image and removing at least the text region from the input image; extracting a background region corresponding to a color characteristic from a background layer; recording coordinate values of the background region extracted; and storing the background region in a form in accordance with the color characteristic of the background region extracted. Further, a data storage section stores a local background and a page background as information including the background color estimated and the coordinate values of the background region including the background color, each of which local background and page background are included in the background layer. This configuration makes it possible to improve a compression efficiency and image quality.
