SOLUTION: The method and the system system are provided for embedding the password within visual images in both digital display and print or film. The password is inseparably embedded within visual images and exists even after image transformation such as change in size, transformation to prints or films and retransformation to a digital mode. Passwrd points are selected from among pixels of an original image, the pixel values of the password points and surrounding pixels are adjusted by an amount detectable by a digital scanner, the adjusted password points form a digital password which is stored for future identification of subject images derived from the image. The password is embedded within an image by searching relative extreme values in the continuous space of pixel values and selecting the password points from among them.

SOLUTION: An identification code signal is added on a carrier to be identified (such as an electronic data signal or a physical medium) in a manner that permits the identification signal to be discerned later and the carrier to be thereby identified.
