    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a railway rail which enables the temperature to be reduced to a predetermined one or below during daytime in midsummer, even if absorbing the radiant heat of the sun from the upper surface of the upper plate of the railway rail; and also to provide a coating method for the railway rail.SOLUTION: A far-infrared radiation film 15 is formed on both side-surfaces 12a of the vertical plate 12, the upper surfaces 13a and the lower surface 13b of the bottom plate 13, and the lower surfaces 11c of the upper plate 11 of the railway rail. Therefore, when the temperature of the railway rail 10 is raised by the radiant heat of the sun transmitted from the upper surface 11a of the upper plate 11 and both side-surfaces 11b of the upper plate 11 into the railway rail 10, the far-infrared radiation film 15 formed on both side-surfaces 12a of the vertical plate 12, the upper surfaces 13a and the lower surface 13b of the bottom plate 13, and the lower surfaces 11c of the upper plate 11 is heated. Then, the far-infrared radiation film converts the increased heat energy to far-infrared radiation, and emits the far-infrared radiation outward. Then, even during daytime in midsummer, the rise of the temperature of the railway rail 10 can be suppressed to 50°C or below.
