    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autodecompression mechanism of a four-stroke outboard motor for a racing boat capable of easily starting an engine by force comparable to or less than that of a conventional two-stroke engine without upsizing and complicating the engine and keeping the use of a starting device with a simple mechanism, wherein pressure of lubricating oil provided to a four-stroke engine is effectively utilized so as to conquer the difficulty in startup.
      SOLUTION: In a decompression mechanism of an outboard motor for a racing boat adopting a system in which a starting rope is wound around a pulley at a crankshaft end to be manually started, an exclusive cam for decompression lifts rocker arms 42a, 42b for decompression during a compressing step in an engine start process. By so doing, exhaust rocker arms 30a, 30c are pressed down to open an exhaust valve and release a part of compressed mixture, thereby reducing compressed pressure and force required for startup so as to materialize easy startup.
