Or, a retardation layer 23, preferably a quarter wave retardation film can be layered on the reflective polarizing film 21. The liquid crystal display 50 is constituted by disposing a liquid crystal cell 30 and a front side absorption type polarizing film 41, in this order, in the light exiting side of the polarizing light source device 10.
