    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency and workability of a brick laying work of a hearth of a converter provided with a gas-blowing tuyere in a hearth bottom, and to suppress ingress of the base metal between single bricks laid on the furnace bottom and generation of cracks caused by the stress owing to mutual pushing between adjacent bricks. SOLUTION: A plurality of gas-blowing tuyeres are arranged in a square shape. A hearth of a converter is built using blocks which are integrated with a plurality of conventional single formed bricks 4 with the adhesive. The blocks 41-44 are of the optimum shape in which the number and arrangement of the single formed bricks to be integrated are changed taking into consideration the workability by a part to be installed. Ingress of the base metal is prevented by setting the application thickness of the adhesive to be 0.5 mm, and generation of cracks caused by the stress owing the mutual pushing between bricks is suppress by providing a clearance regulating brick formed of the single formed bricks lowered between the block and a tuyere receiving brick 2, and between the block and a special form brick around a furnace wall.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding nozzle device, in which surface pressure can be loaded even in the case of changing the positions of retreating limit or advancing limit in a sliding metallic frame and the release of the surface pressure load can simply be executed so as to be possible to secure a gap for inserting a surface pressure block. SOLUTION: In the sliding nozzle device provided with a fixed metallic frame 1, an openable metallic frame 2 freely shifted to the fixed metallic frame 1, a sliding metallic frame 3 set between the fixed metallic frame 1 and the operable metallic frame 2 and slidable to the limit positions and a surface pressure additional mechanism for pressing the openable metallic frame 2 to the fixed metallic frame 1 at the time of shifting the openable metallic frame 2 to the surface pressure loading position W, the openable metallic frame 2 is linked with the sliding metallic frame 3 and also, when the openable metallic frame 2 reaches the surface pressure loading position W, a surface pressure loading member 12 for obstructing what the slidable metallic frame 3 reaches the limit positions, is arranged so as to be freely attached/detached between the openable metallic frame 2 and the slidable metallic frame 3. Wherein, the limit positions means the advancing limit and the retreating limit in the shiftable stoke range.
